Your employer is responsible for paying for your medical care after a workplace injury. It is important that you get treatment, as not doing so may lead to worsening symptoms and the inability to do your job properly in the future. Medical devices, medication, and treatment options to fix your injuries are all covered without a deductible, as all costs should be handled by the workers’ comp insurance.
Temporary total disability, or TTD, is available to those who cannot return to work, even if you are able to perform a lighter version of your job. The payments will be paid out until your doctor gives his okay to return to work or when your modified work pays you less than your previous position.
You may be eligible for one of the following permanent disability benefits: Permanent partial disability (PPD) paid at 66 2/3% of your average pay when you were injured, or in a lump-sum; and permanent total disability, or PTD, after it has been determined that you can no longer work. This is also paid out at 66 2/3% of your salary or wages, with a higher maximum than PPD.
