We Kansas City wellness clinic owner is under investigation by the state medical board. They want to know if there is any connection to the clinic and the death of a man who got a vitamin IV infusion there.

These types of clinics are becoming popular, but there are growing concerns about how safe they are for consumers. At Mayer & Rosenberg, P.C., we will keep an eye out on what happens during this investigation. We know that there are many times when a person’s negligence causes a fatality. What This Is About

The case in question surrounds a man who went to get an IV vitamin infusion at Element Wellness Spa Studio, which is owned by physician Kelly Logan. These procedures and outpatient clinics that perform them are growing in popularity across the country.

This man, a 64-year-old, was there for his 12th infusion in three months. On this visit, he fell ill after about 10 minutes into the treatment. He began to vomit and said it felt like his skin was crawling. The treatment was stopped and he went home. There he continued to vomit and spiked a fever of 103 degrees. He went to the hospital the next morning and died three days later.

According to an autopsy, his cause of death was organ failure due to underlying medical conditions. The Jackson County Medical Examiner said the hospital requested materials from the clinic to test the IV materials, but the clinic said they had been thrown out.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services is looking into whether or not wellness spas that run IVs need more regulation.
