In Missouri, drunk driving impacts many people yearly. The car accidents caused by impaired drivers can take an immense toll on the lives and livelihood of those who are involved.
This can be seen in one recent case, where a Missouri mother’s letter about DUI crashes has gone viral. The mother, 22 years old, lost both her husband and baby son to a DUI accident. It was determined that the cause of the accident was likely due to alcohol, and that alcohol was at least a contributing factor. It was stated that the other driver involved was on her way back from a wedding reception, which caused the mother to question why no one at the reception prevented her from getting on the road.
The mother was the only survivor of the accident. The other driver died, and the mother’s baby was killed at the scene of the accident. Her husband was air lifted to the hospital along with her. However, before 24 hours had passed, the husband was also pronounced dead. The mother suffered from a severe concussion but has since healed fully. She has stated that the perpetrator’s family has yet to make contact or come forward with an apology, which she states that she wishes they would do.
Drinking and driving can have a heavy impact on not only the DUI driver, but on other cars around them. Anyone who has been involved in a drunk driving accident may wish to contact an attorney.
