Woman killed in Kansas City accident involving fleeing suspect
Occasionally, people in Kansas City, and other localities, choose to flee from authorities, rather than stopping and answering for their actions. In these cases, they often do so without concern for the safety of those around them who are uninvolved. When this happens, it can put the lives of other, law-abiding citizens in grave danger. As a result, lives may be cut short, and families left to deal with devastating losses.
A family in Kansas City is still struggling to cope with the death of woman who ran a Blue Springs dance studio. She reportedly lost her life in an accident involving a suspect who was fleeing from authorities. According to reports, the woman was stopped at an intersection when her vehicle was rear-ended by the suspect. It was not reported why the man was attempting to evade law enforcement officers, but he was reportedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the fatal car crash.
Recently, the man pled guilty to the charges against him as a part of an agreement. A sentencing trial to determine the punishment for the man, who admitted to neglecting to stop at the scene of a fatal accident and second-degree murder, will be held in April. For their part, the woman’s family does not feel that the agreement holds him accountable for his actions.
When people suffer the loss of a loved one due to the actions of others, the effects can be life changing. Although nothing can bring back the person who is lost, working with an attorney may help them understand their options for taking legal action.
